Ok, the reference to the series "Spaced" (amazingly and weirdly funny!!!) is not really fitting with what I want to show you today ; But hey, since the day I saw that scene, when I hear the word "rabbit", I can't help myself repeating it 3 times in a hysterical voice…

Well, back to my little bunnies :)
I just finished a new embroidery hoop I am very happy with! I kinda took a risk with using a combination of different fabrics for the background, especially with using a very "flowery" one!
But the result is incredibly sweet and definitely cute!
The theme is perfect for a baby nursery, or even a child bedroom : a baby bunny and his mama resting in the meadow :)

My little blue whale

Et voilà !

I have finished working on my little whale embroidery. And I love the result !

I got quite despaired for a while because I couldn't manage to figure out how to deal with her eye… Took me a few hours of reflexion and I put the project aside for a day or two.

And then … tadaaaaaa 

It all came into places :)

Doll

It has been a long time I have wanted to do my own rag doll.
So yesterday I got up thinkining : "Today is THE day!! I am gonna sew my first DOLL!"
I looked a bit on internet and was very lucky to stumble upon this blog : Makeit-loveit.com where the writer shares her own pattern and instructions to realise some lovely dolls. Hers are absolutely gorgeous!!!!
So, I followed her instructions, made a few mistakes but in the end I was very happy and proud with the result. It was not as easy as it looked (of course, it never is!) but I have learnt quite a lot of things during the process.
Bonus : my daughter lover her new doll, so everything is perfectly fine :)

Three Ladies

I am so happy with the way my new illustration comes out once printed!!!!
I tried to do something a little bit different and I love the result! I got the inspiration for this drawing back in France when visiting a Cistercian Abbey in Flaran. In a little room, there was this splendid little wooden statue (of a Saint I believe ? - I need to go through my pics again..). It was so delicate and so touching I immediately knew I wanted to try to transcribe it on paper. And I am very glad with the result :)

Girl with dark hair print

To take a little break from the Christmas cards, I have decided I would work on one of my little girl illustration.  The original drawing was made using oil pastels on paper. I scanned it and reworked it very slightly and then printed it on a very thick (300 g) A4 watercolour paper. It was a little bit tricky to have the printer accepting it, and then to print straight but in the end, the result was really worth the effort! That paper is absolutely gorgeous with such an interesting texture, the print is beautiful :) The only step now is to find a nicer frame for it and a place on my wall!

The dandelion and the little girl

My little Zu and a cut dandelion from our garden. She loves to blow on them and see the seeds fly away. I must admit I love it too and it definitely is one of the little things that make Summer such a special season!

Red Bubble ....

I have decided I was gonna give Red Bubble another try. I went through a LOT of my pictures and reworked (or sometimes not)a few of them and uploaded them on RB. It is always a pleasure to stumble upon old and forgotten images. Blurry sensations, lingering feelings of the lost moment suddenly overwhelming the present, making it taste slightly different. Back from holidays...

We happened to spend a nice summer holidays at my parents in France. They have a farm where they grow organic chickens, ducks and guinea fowls... It was lovely to see A. running after the poultry, getting the eggs the hens had laid during the night or day, eat fruits from the trees. We really had a great time and the place is so nice, we miss it already!

Time flies..

It's June already and well, time to go back to some creative work... Lately, I have really dedicated my free time to learn a new craft : embroidery. I tried it just for fun and just to "see what it looks like"... Hmmm.... I am afraid the art of stitches on canvas is highly addictive! Just wish I had more time to practice and practice again and again but oh well, I am having fun and this is what it is all about in the end. Leaving by the seaside, no surprise my mind came with two water related patterns :) A lovely whale swimming among red aquatic flowers and a crazy seagull resting on the blue sea. Winter Hat

Can't believe it is spring already and the weather is still so awfully bad! Everything becomes more difficult during the day with rain and a toddler ! So, every now and then, I get the pens, oil pastels out and offer a drawing session to my little one. And providing she doesn't try to express her art on the walls, it is such a great way to spend a little bit of time together, drawing cats, owls and dinosaurs. A new adventure, a brand new and beautiful blog !

Surfing on a great wave of creativity (nothing better than having a 2 year old at home to push you to make drawings every day!), I have been debating for a while the idea of trying to do something with it and maybe trying to get a bit more "professional" about it. I had (and still have) a lot of doubts about the whole project, but the circumstances of life and the support of my partner helped me trusting in what I am doing. So, last month I took a deep breath, and jumped into business :) Vey exciting ! And very difficult too :) The easy and nice parts were definitely to choose a name for my shop, and designing its logo, banner etc. The not so easy parts were to let friends and family know about it and wait for the first feedbacks and the first sale. Luckily, the first sale came pretty fast (such a great feeling this first sale, I am sure I won't ever forget!), and with it a bit of relief and just a little bit less stress. After one month (and five sales!! I am still amazed!)I now know I have to learn to promote my art more efficiently, find a better way to take attractive pictures from my prints and definitely read a bit more about this damn SEO thing!!!!
